The Burntwood Blog?

If any of you are regular readers of the The Lichfield Blog, you may be interested to hear that there should be a Burntwood spin-off on it’s way, ultimately with it’s own site.  Philip John, Tech guy behind the The Lichfield Blog talks briefly about the plans in his post on hyperlocal networks running in the UK.

Hyperlocal is a term used to describe a site designed to appeal to a geographically related sector of the community, often down to town or post-code level.

The Lichfield Blog is already in the process of taking the Tamworth Blog under its wings and the Burntwood spin-off would be a welcome recognition that Burntwood is a substantial and relevant community in its own right.  Our existing media does not adequately satisfy the need for local news and information but an online, community-led environment could provide so much more.  I, for one, will be watching developments with interest.

The umbrella organisation for the blogs and it’s associated ventures, incorporated as a Community Interest Company (CIC), is Lichfield Community Media.
